COVID-19 FAQ
I have a cleaning appointment booked in the future. Will this change?
Due to the changes to our schedule because of multiple cancellations and additional precautions, future appointments will likely need to be modified. This is necessary to accommodate longer appointment times and spacing between the appointments to ensure minimal patient overlap.
My appointment will be longer....does this affect my insurance?
Yes. We are required to minimize aerosol-generating procedures. Therefore, hygienists will be using more hand scaling techniques and not polishing teeth. We will continue to keep you informed about insurance limits and you may reach your limits more quickly if your cleaning takes more time.
Are you providing physical distancing?
Yes. Our waiting room has been modified to accommodate physical distancing. We ask that you please arrive to your appointment 5 minutes early and on your own. Our office will be staggering appointments to limit patient cross-over.
How are you disinfecting and preventing the spread of COVID-19 in your office?
Your health and safety is our top priority. We will be disinfecting our entire office regularly throughout the day with a focus on high touch surfaces like door handles, countertops, arm chair handles and washroom keys.
We will continue to have high infection control standards in the clinic and we will be wearing the required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as recommended by the B.C. College of Dental Surgeons.
We will have clinic windows open to assist in air circulation and a HEPA air filter in the reception area. Appointments will be spaced out to limit the number of patients in the office at any given time.
Please wear a mask in our building and use the alcohol hand sanitizer when you enter and leave our office.
If I am not feeling well on the day of my appointment and need to cancel, will I be charged a cancellation fee?
No. If you present with any COVID-19 symptoms on the day of your appointment, please stay at home and reschedule your appointment. These symptoms include:
- fever
- dry cough
- difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- stuffy or runny nose
- sore throat
- loss of taste or smell
- flu-like symptoms
We will not be able to schedule any dental treatment for 14 days until a self-quarantine is completed. We appreciate your diligence in keeping our staff, patients and community safe.
What happens if I have travelled outside of Canada? Can I still come to my dental appointment?
No. You will not be able to schedule any dental appointments until you have quarantined for 14 days.
I don’t have a babysitter. Can family members wait in the waiting room?
No. We are sorry that we cannot accommodate this during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please arrive 5 minutes before your appointment time and come alone. If you have special circumstances, please call ahead to arrange.
If you have multiple appointments on the same day for your family, they will not be able to wait in the waiting area for their appointment. Please have another family member accompany you so they can wait with your child in the car or outside until their appointed time.
My insurance may be terminating. If I had treatment started before March 15 but not completed due to COVID-19, will the insurance still pay my completed treatment.
We are not able to provide a clear answer to this as we do not have a direct relationship with your dental insurance. Please notify your benefits department directly to find out details about your dental insurance, such as whether your insurance could be extended for 60 days due to the COVID-19 shutdown.
Welcome
We look forward to taking care of your dental health and maintaining your beautiful smile.
